Ubiraci Silva Matos belongs to the Pataxó people of the village of Coroa Vermelha, in Santa Cruz Cabrália, Bahia - the largest urban village in Latin America, very famous for having been the scene of the Portuguese invasion of this land called Pindorama, known as Brazil. When he introduces himself as Ubiraci Pataxó, he knows that he is speaking for an entire community, an entire people, an entire culture.
